The Marketplace for International Development
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

Summary of RFP

Series Editors Stacey Blackman, University of the West Indies;
and Dennis A. Conrad, SUNY Potsdam

BOOK DESCRIPTION:

Caribbean Discourse in Inclusive Education is an edited book series that aims to give voice to Caribbean scholars, practitioners, and other professionals working in diverse classrooms. The series intends to provide an ongoing forum for Caribbean researchers, practitioners, and academics, including those of the Diaspora, to critically examine issues that influence the education of children and youth in inclusive settings.

We are particularly interested in volumes that further the discourse on managing precarity and building resilience in education especially given the impact of Covid-19 and school closures over the past two years in the Caribbean. Other areas of interest include:

  • Gender equity and inclusion in Caribbean education
  • The role of artificial intelligence in transforming education in the Caribbean
  • Issues in early childhood special education in the Caribbean
  • The policy context for inclusive education in the Caribbean
  • Multiculturalism and inclusion in Caribbean education systems
  • Practitioner interventions and programmes that promote inclusion
  • Teacher pedagogical practices for inclusion in Caribbean classrooms
